If you have an unplanned pregnancy and you have questions or wish to terminate it, call us at (+27786545169
We know how difficult it is to have an unwanted pregnancy. We also know that if you need to abort it, you want to do it in a safe, confidential and private way that allows you to get back to your normal life as soon as possible. You also want to be seen quickly and not have to wait a long time to get an appointment.
We will want to meet you as soon as possible and discuss your options which will hopefully include taking the Abortion Pill. We will schedule an appointment for you as soon as possible. We are very sensitive to the fact that time is of the essence when trying to terminate. This is why we try to get you into our clinic quickly, before time starts to close off your options. We strive to give you an appointment within a couple of days usually, and sometimes the same day depending on which day you call us. It’s fine to come in and have a sonogram, get the facts, and decide to further consider your options. Knowing how far along you are as soon as possible is very important, because then you can gauge how much more time you have for the pill option.

Safe Abortion What Should Expect When I Take Abortion Pills

The Abortion Pill consists of two different medications taken 24 hours apart. The first, Mifeprex, will block the hormone that the pregnancy needs to grow. Most people don’t have any symptoms after taking this first medication, even though it is extremely important for the process to work. The second medication, Misoprostol, will interact with the uterus to bring about the cramps that will expel the pregnancy. The process is identical to a natural miscarriage, which means you will experience cramping pain followed by bleeding and passage of blood clots. The severity will depend on the age of the pregnancy; the earlier it is the less the cramping and bleeding that’s experienced. The pregnancy will be expelled along with the blood clots.

The good part about the

Safe Is The Abortion Pills Invasive?

medication is that it is not invasive, and no surgical procedure will usually be necessary. We want to avoid anything that places instruments inside the body if possible. The best practice in medicine is to approach treatment with the least amount of invasion into the body and therefore have the least risk. A surgical procedure should really only be performed if you are too far along for the pill to work, or in case the pill has already been taken and failed, which is very rare.

Does The Pill Give Me More Control?

Yes, and when you are already in a situation that seems to be out of control, regaining some of that control is very empowering and allows you to better deal with everything. We strongly believe that giving control back to women is very helpful to allow them to have a more positive experience. Things are already difficult for you because of circumstances. We want to do our best to make it less difficult. Every little bit of power and control we give back to you takes more burden off from you and will hopefully lighten your heart a bit.

Do Medical Pills Allow Me More Privacy?

Yes, the Abortion Pill allows the termination to take place in the privacy of your home, in a place and time of your choosing. The privacy of your home is a place of comfort and relieves the stress of being surrounded by strangers.

What Is the Cost of the Abortion Pill?
The cost of the Abortion Pill can vary in California depending on which clinic you visit. We ask that you call us to get the most up-to-date pricing in our clinic because our prices are subject to change.

How Do Abortion Pills Work?
A medical abortion involves taking two different types of medication.

The first medicine – Mifepristone.

Stage 1: This abortion pill ends the pregnancy. It works by blocking the hormone progesterone. Without progesterone, the womb lining breaks down and the pregnancy cannot continue to develop.

One Mifepristone pill is taken orally (swallowed whole with water).

The second medicine – Misoprostol.

Stage 2: These pills contain hormone-like substances called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins occur naturally in the body and help the womb contract. This causes cramping and bleeding. An early medical abortion is similar to an early miscarriage.

Up to six Misoprostol pills may be used in a medical abortion.

4 tablets can be inserted into the vagina; tablets in the vagina will dissolve on their own. Alternatively, you can place the tablets in the mouth, between your cheek and gums to dissolve for 30 minutes before swallowing any remainder with water.

Stage 3: 3 Hours after your first dose of Misoprostol, if you are feeling well but have had no bleeding or only light spotting, you should use the additional 2 Misoprostol pills in your treatment pack. You can insert them into your vagina or in your mouth between your cheek and gums to dissolve as before

What to Expect When Taking Abortion Pills (Early Medical Abortion)
Everyone is different, so how you feel may be different to someone else.

The abortion is usually complete within about 4 -6 hours after taking misoprostol (stage 2 or 3). However, for some, it may take a little longer. Bleeding may continue for several days, and light bleeding or spotting may even continue up until your next period, this is completely normal, even after the abortion is complete.

Potential Risks/ Side Effects of Abortion Pills
Abortion pills are very safe. As with any medication there are some potential risks and side effects. We will talk to you about these possible complications during your consultation. The main risks or side effects of abortion pills include:

Excessive vaginal bleeding

Incomplete abortion

Infection

Allergic reactions

A feeling of light-headedness

Feeling feverish

High temperature

Diarrhoea

Nausea or sickness

These side effects usually settle within 24 hours of taking the second or third stage of the medication. Sometimes, you will experience similar side effects if you have started contraception after the abortion. However, if the symptoms continue or worsen, please get in touch with us.

If your symptoms are severe, or if you develop any signs that require emergency care, do not take any more medication. Instead, seek immediate assessment from a healthcare professional or call

In-Clinic Abortions

Because the pregnancy is more advanced, people may need to have a two-day procedure so that the cervix can be gradually dilated overnight. This may be done with osmotic dilators—which are small dilators that are placed in the cervix and swell gradually to open the cervix—or with medications.

Medication Abortion

For people who are early in pregnancy, usually below 10 to 11 weeks, you may be offered a choice of medication abortion or an aspiration abortion procedure.
For a medication abortion, you will take one pill called mifepristone to begin the abortion process and then a second dose of pills called misoprostol one to two days later at home.
After taking the second set of pills, most people experience heavy bleeding and cramping, and pass the pregnancy over the next few hours. The experience is like a miscarriage.

How the Process Works

1. Schedule a confidential telehealth consultation
You’ll begin with a secure video or phone appointment with one of our experienced clinicians. During your consultation, we’ll review your health history, confirm how far along you are, and answer all your questions about the process.

If you’re eligible for the abortion pill, our provider will explain exactly how it works and what to expect.

2. Choose delivery or in-clinic pickup
Once approved, you’ll have two convenient options for receiving your medication:

By mail: Your medication is sent directly to your home in discreet packaging. Most patients receive it within a few days after their consultation.
Clinic pickup: If you prefer, you may come to our clinic to pick up your prescription in person. This can be helpful if you’d like to speak briefly with our staff or get additional supplies before beginning at home.
3. Complete the process at home
You’ll take the first medication as directed, followed by the second 24–48 hours later. We’ll provide complete, easy-to-follow instructions to guide you through every step. Most people experience cramping and bleeding similar to a heavy period, which means the abortion is in progress.
You’ll have access to our team by phone if you have any concerns or questions at any point.

4. Follow-up care
After the process is complete you’ll have a follow-up appointment, either by telehealth or in person, to confirm that the abortion is complete and you’re feeling well. We’ll also discuss next steps for your health, including birth control options if desired.
